Makli · view in room

Makli

Makli, outside Thatta, is one of the largest necropolises in the world, and its sandstone arches recur in Bandah Ali's dance paintings. Here the arch frames the whole canvas. The palette is deliberately grey, with gold where the light touches the hems and bangles.
